[V]POGLED / [IN]SIGHT
25. 5.-7. 6. 2020

Ta so izjemno raznolika, avtorji v njih z različnimi pristopi in v različnih medijih obravnavajo najrazličnejše motive in teme.
Predstavljena so dela s področij modnega in grafičnega oblikovanja, fotografije, ilustracije, različnih zvrsti slikarstva in instalacije.

The exhibition puts on view the creative practices of eight City of Ljubljana Scholarship recipients who have accepted the invitation to showcase their work. The result is a very diverse display of talent, the authors using varying approaches and varying media to explore a range of motifs and topics. While most of the works were created as part of educational processes, some bear no relation to the authors’ courses of study, acting instead as an expression of creativity and a result of a passion for making art as a relaxing pastime.
The display features artworks ranging from fashion and graphic design, to photography, illustration, various types of painting, and installation.
In terms of subject matter, the authors draw on their observations of society, current events, their surroundings, and human treatment of their own environment. Others are inspired by stories and history, while some find most of their inspiration in a blank canvas with all its possibilities.
The exhibition attempts to draw parallels between the authors’ approaches to their respective subjects, while highlighting contrasts between them through its layout.
Some of the works on display deal with the view, either in terms of the physical activity of the eye as the organ playing the role of the agent, i.e. as an objective view of the subject matter in question; or in terms of a subjective view as the way of considering issues or situations. In the case of the latter, the authors’ self-insight was key as a source of inspiration and a way to understand themselves and the world around them.
Now subject to our gaze, the works on display give us an up-close view of the artistic practices of their authors, as well as a chance to reflect anew on our own view of the world.
