We started exploring India with Swami Anandakapila Saraswati and we felt compelled to continue our search and keep sharing the jewels of this fascinating country. Travel to India challenges the individual psyche and our preconceptions of yoga. Going to the temples and experiencing rituals hundreds of years old expands our values and perceptions of life. We invite people who are seriously interested in deepening their meditation to join our annual tour.

DESTINATION:

Varanasi (2nd to 9th of March):
We will visit the ghats, Manikarnika Ghat, two Aghori (Aughar) Ashrams, Telang Swami Samadhi, Maha Mrityunjaya temple, Gayatri temple….

The land of Varanasi (Kashi) has been the ultimate pilgrimage spot for Hindus for ages. Often referred to as Benares, Varanasi is the oldest living city in the world. These few lines by Mark Twain say it all: "Benaras is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend and looks twice as old as all of them put together". Hindus believe that one who is graced to die on the land of Varanasi would attain salvation and freedom from the cycle of birth and re-birth. Abode of Lord Shiva and Parvati, the origins of Varanasi are yet unknown.

The largest religious gathering in the world! According to astrologers, the 'Kumbh Fair' takes place when the planet Jupiter enters Aquarius and the Sun enters Aries.
Kumbha (Kumbha means pot) Mela (means fair) is a sacred Hindu pilgrimage that takes place at the following four locations of India:
Prayag, Allahabad (in the state of Uttar Pradesh) at the confluence of three holy
rivers - Ganga (Ganges), Yamuna and Saraswati
Haridwar (in the state of Uttar Pradesh) where the river Ganga enters the plains from Himalayas
Ujjain (in Madhya Pradesh), on the banks of shipra river, and
Nasik (in Maharashtra) on the banks of Godavari river.

The pilgrimage occurs four times every twelve years, once at each of the four locations. This year it is held in Haridwar.
